Diagnosis
Metriura can be distinguished from the lyrate genera of the subfamily Diplurinae by the abscence of a lyra on the maxillae. Differs from alyrate genera by a broader labiosternal suture, the prescence of foveal bristles and the base of metatarsus I being distinctively curved in males.
