N.B.: considered a junior synonym of Diplura C. L. Koch, 1850 by Raven, 1980a: 254, but removed from synonymy and considered a senior synonym of Uruchus Simon, 1889 as well as the correct position of all described Diplura species other than Diplura brachythele Mello-Leitão, 1937, Diplura dolichosternum Mello-Leitão, 1938 and Diplura macrura (C. L. Koch, 1842) by Raven, 1985a: 75.

Diagnosis
Linothele can be distinguished from the lyrate genera of the subfamily Diplurinae by the abscence of a lyra on the maxillae. Differs from Metriura by a shorter labiosternal suture, the abscence of foveal bristles and the base of metatarsus I not being distinctively curved in males.
